TOWNSHIP OF ROCHELLE PARK, 151 WEST PASSAIC ST, ROCHELLE PARK, NJ 07662

William Hauser – Mayor

Mayor William J. Hauser was born in St. Paul, MN, and grew up in Washington Township, Gloucester County, NJ. He graduated from Washington Township High School, and attended Rutgers University on an Air Force ROTC scholarship. During his college years he moved to California where he graduated from California State University, San Marcos. William joined the United States Army Reserves in 2003 and was headquartered in South El Monte, CA.

Having lived in California for almost 11 years, job opportunities and the desire to be closer to family brought him back to NJ in 2008.

William is currently a High School Social Studies teacher at a charter school in Hackensack, teaching U.S. History, Advanced Placement U.S. Government and Politics, and Sociology. He is very involved in extracurricular activities and serves as the Senior Class Advisor and a coach in the College Readiness Program where he works to ensure students are fully prepared to submit their college applications and get the opportunity to visit various campuses across the country. He also coaches the Varsity Girls Soccer team, Varsity Boys & Girls Bowling team, and is the Head coach for both Boys & Girls Track teams.

William married his wife Diane in 2012, and began their search for their first home. They chose Rochelle Park for its proximity to New York City, but also for the safe, small town feel. They were sold on the charm of their house on Passaic Street and made it their home in 2013. Never one to stay idle, after being in town for a short while, William joined the Rochelle Park Volunteer Fire Department. Being community minded, he decided to run for Township Committee and was elected Committeeman in the 2015 election.

As an educator, William truly believes in the idea that actions speak louder than words. As a Committeeman, he is committed to making sure that the people of the Rochelle Park can feel confident that they are being heard and served as efficiently and as transparently as possible, and encourages an open line of communication with community members.
