The Bureau of Fire Code Enforcement was established to serve the citizens, emergency service personnel, and visitors of our Township. The Bureau of Fire Code Enforcement Responsibilities:
- Enforcement of Fire Safety Regulations: The Bureau of Fire Code Enforcement is responsible for enforcing the New Jersey Uniform Fire Code and all fire safety regulations within the Township. The Bureau of Fire Code Enforcement ensures compliance with these regulations to maintain a safe environment for all residents, employees, and visitors.
- Support for Specialized Events: The Bureau of Fire Code Enforcement provides vital support for specialized events, including large public gatherings, festivals, and other events that may pose unique fire safety challenges. This includes assessing fire risks, issuing necessary permits, and ensuring that all fire safety protocols are in place to protect attendees and event staff.
Major Activities within the Scope of the Bureau of Fire Code Enforcement:
- Inspection of Life Hazard Use Buildings: Conduct regular inspections of buildings classified as Life Hazard Use, ensuring that fire safety regulations are followed to protect occupants and prevent fire-related incidents.
- Inspection of Non-Life Hazard Use Buildings: Perform inspections of buildings not classified as Life Hazard Use to maintain fire safety standards and reduce potential risks to public safety.
- Fire Safety Permits: Issue and regulate fire safety permits for various events, including food truck vendors and firework displays, ensuring that all fire safety protocols are in place for public safety.
- Fire Investigations: Conduct thorough investigations for all fire incidents occurring within the Township to determine the origin and cause of fires, facilitating proper documentation & research.
- Fire Safety Education Programs: Develop and deliver fire safety education programs to promote fire safety awareness and prevention.
- Collaboration with Key Agencies: The Bureau of Fire Code Enforcement regularly collaborates with the Rochele Park Fire Department, Rochelle Park Police Department & Rochelle Park Office of Emergency Management to enhance fire training, fire safety practices, arson prevention efforts, and homeland security initiatives. This collaborative effort ensures a comprehensive approach to fire safety.
