Personal Safety
|
|
The
Rochelle Park Police
Department has provided
a list of suggestions below for personal safety. In many cases, people
become victims of crime because they inadvertently put themselves in
danger. |
| |
|
These suggestions may help deter crime:
|
| |
- Keep car doors locked while driving
- Lock your car when you park it
- Park your car, and walk in well-lit areas
- Check car before getting in
- If you think you’re being followed, try to get to a nearby store or other well-lit public area.

The following guidelines are
provided courtesy of the
Rochelle Park Police
Department for
pedestrians, to ensure their safety: |
| |
- Carry or wear something white or reflective if walking at night
- Cross only at crosswalks
- Before crossing any street be sure to look both ways, and be sure the way is clear before crossing
- Cross only on proper traffic signal
- Be especially watchful for turning cars
- Never enter the roadway from between parked cars
- Where there is no sidewalk, walk on the left side of the street, facing oncoming traffic
- When walking your pet, be sure you have the animal on a short leash and under control at all times. Pets may dart out in front of passing vehicles if they are not
- Joggers should always wear something reflective, should carry identification, and should let someone know their intended route
